Texas After Violence Has Received a $1 Million Grant from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation

We’re thrilled to announce that The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation has awarded a grant to the Texas After Violence Project for $1 million to support our work and mission for the next four years!

This is a really big deal for our organization. Not only is it going to allow us to continue to do our work, it’s going to allow us to expand our reach, to expand our impact, and to expand our team. We’re deeply grateful to The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation for recognizing the importance of our work and mission and making this investment in us. We’re also proud to be part of a growing cohort of community archives and other activist and advocacy organizations that use liberatory memory work not only to document the impacts of injustice, inequality and state violence but also to document, preserve, and share the ways that directly impacted individuals, families and communities make meaning out of those experiences — how they grieve, how they heal, how they survive, and how they resist. This work is essential in broader strategies to build movements for transformative justice. Of course, we couldn’t do anything we do without you, our community. Thank you for always being there for us.
