The Art of Surviving State Violence

Join Texas After Violence Project for an evening celebrating the 2023 Visions After Violence cohort and their work. We will take time together as a community to commemorate and reflect on the interviews and creative projects of fellows, whose projects look at police brutality in Austin, the realities of incarceration at Hays County jail, and the impact on families by mass incarcerating women. Our fellows will speak about their fellowship experience and share their projects. We invite the public to explore their own connections, expectations, beliefs and assumptions about state violence and retributive ideas of justice. This event is free and open to the public, and gives each of us a chance to honor the accomplishments of our three outstanding fellows: Sam Kirsch, Myles Martin, and Marci Marie Simmons.

Date: Friday, October 13th

Time: 6:30 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Address: Austin Cinemaker Space, 2200 Tillery St, Austin, TX 78722

RSVP on our eventbrite!
